Protection Of Individual Rights:

Definition: Every person is born with the rights: life, liberty and property, and it's the government's job to make sure that everyone's rights are protected.

Examples: If you steal something, you're taking someone else's property. So, you get in trouble for taking that person's thing's and you can have a series of punishments happen to you. You can go to jail, pay a fine, have to do community service, anything can happen, because the government protects out individual rights


Provide National Defense:

Definition: Defending the nation from enemies is one of the government’s job

  • To have security countries have an army, navy, air force, coast guard.

  • Providing defense to protect national security is a major concern to each state

Maintaining order:

Deffinition:To keep things under control by: enforcing laws, settling arguments in court, and punishing people who do bad things.

  • The government controls and makes sure that there are no conflicts between people by placing laws on what individuals are permitted to do

Providing Public Services:

Deffinition: when the government does things that i person wouldn’t do/pay for all by themselves.

Examples: public transportation (the bus, commuter trains/subways), garbage pickup, air quallity inspection, sewers, etc.

Direct Economics Decisions:

Deffinition: nations provide people with economics opportunities or resources a government determines the way in which a country, state, county, township, city, or village is run. At every level, government makes laws that citizens must obey and creates policies about everything connected with the daily life of a community—whether that community is a nation, a state or the town where you live.
